Grade 4 Inquiry Project
This term, your Inquiry Project is going to be investigating one service that the local government do for us. To do an Inquiry Project, you will need to ask two deep questions (questions that need lots of information). Your teacher will help you create your questions by giving you some key words that you can use, but your questions might change as you start to investigate.
As you do your investigation, you will need to reflect on how you are going, and you will do this on the handout called “Year 4 – Local Council Inquiry” (stuck into your Inquiry exercise book).
You will need to present all of the information you find in a booklet or on a poster. You will also give an oral presentation for 2 minutes on what you found out and how you went with your findings.
Your project will be due on the 28th of March and this is the day you will need to be ready to present your presentation.
Week 6 – Research; work out what information you need and how you are going to find the information.
Week 7 – Plan and Draft; think about how you will set up your poster or booklet, write out the draft. Make sure an adult checks it for meaning, spelling and punctuation. Write your speech.
Week 8 – Publish; create the booklet or poster. Practise your speech.
Week 9 – Finish off and present on Wednesday the 28th of March.
You may need to do some work at home so that you can do your project the BEST THAT YOU CAN.
